Assistant Chief Security officer's log.

Mission: Episode Four: Business as usual
Location: U.S.S. Cychreides
Timeline: Stardate 93710.1

I have assumed the post of Assistant Chief Security/Tactical officer aboard the Cychreides, following my first away mission. The captain called the senior staff, including myself, to her ready room to discuss our findings.

We briefed the captain, allowing myself to be brought up to speed on the Artefact and it's significance. Including the fact that it gave visions to Lieutenant JG Alundi.

I made the suggestion that these visions could be interpreted via a mind meld, an ability held by many Vulcans, to which I am capable of performing. This was approved, and under the care of the ship's doctor, and with Lieutenant Commander Uzeeta Zus monitoring me telepathically, i melded with Lieutenant JG Alundi.

I was presented with the visions she had seen, upon research i was shown a literal interpretation of 'Hell' as known by a variety of sentient species. A place that the 'evil' find their consciousness trapped after they die.

The experience was fascinating, but thoroughly terrifying, such a sense of anguish, fear, and suffering. The heat stronger than a vulcan fire storm, the wails of lost souls radiated through my psyche.

the visions then brought me to several sights of destruction, Lae'nas, New romulus, Earth, and Qo'nos. all in total ruin with their inhabitants dead or dying.

Following this, i was pulled into personal memories of Lieutenant JG Alundi, to which i shall not repeat in this log due to it's confidential nature, though i am sure her hardships are noted within her service record.

Through our experience of these visions, myself and Lieutenant JG Alundi are certain that the artefact has been corrupted by Iconian influence from it's original purpose. The meld has left me emotionally charged, which shall fade in a short time, however it is my recommendation that the artefact be handled carefully, and kept within containment with a level 6 field. Long range sensors should maintain a scan for Herald ships, and communications be monitored.

It is conceivable, that the artefact may be traceable by Iconian technology.
