Security Log, Ensign T'pali, U.S.S. Cychreides.
I have been assigned to the Cychreides in my first starship post since graduating the academy. There was little time to settle and get to know my colleagues. The Captain and First officer greeted me upon one of the ship's shuttles, U.S.S. Runner.
I am to report to the Chief medical officer as soon as is possible, to brief them on any medical concerns, to which there are few. I look forward to seeing the ship for the first time.
The Captain and Senior staff are on shore leave, and i was invited to join them, however, this was pretence to cover an important mission in the Alpha quadrant. Information regarding a preserver artefact has been presented by an unknown source, I joined the away team in attempting to discern it's origin aboard Deep space nine.
With the assistance of crew aboard the Runner, and Lieutenant Nox, a man whom seems to favour casual and informal mannerisms, we were able to create a data uplink via one of the blatant security holes within Deep Space nine's security systems. From this we were able to discern that the transmissions regarding the artefact were relayed through the station.
Tricorder interface allowed me to access the transmission logs, and piece together that the transmission had been relayed through a number of subspace buoys, and originated somewhere within the Reimers system.
We set course for Reimers IV, and myself and Lieutenant Nox attempted to piece together the data recovered from deep space nine. Much was missing, due to a data mine left behind in the station's computer to selectively delete key information and dump redundant data into the computer to mask the redaction.
We concluded that a communications relay in orbit of Reimers IV was the first relay to be used, and that the original transmission came from the surface.
Sensor sweeps detected an unusual geological interferance, utilising the mountains of the planet, and a jamming field to mask a settlement.
Our shuttle was masked by debree rings around an asteroid, from which we initiated deflector pulses to map the settlement, whilst Lieutenant Nox used a data uplink to find all information regarding the artefact from the settlement's computers.
Our attempts attracted the attention of a Hibeki class ship, identified as true way, upon scanning the weapons signature when the vessel opened fire near our position. We were able to retreat to warp with careful manouvering from Petty Officer first class Talan.
Further Analysis identified the artefact had been sighted on Bajor, where it was considered to be a Prophet related religious item. We have returned to the Cychreides for debriefing.
