Chief Engineer's personal log Stardate 93439.94

It's been a several eventful days, that were to be a leisure preparation for a long mission.
Me and my small crew were busy bringing the ship online, system by system, and making sure it works better then optimal. It's my pedantic approach to the job.
In between, we run errands hauling equipment and provisions from the surface like a bunch of freshmen cadets on their first field trip.
But I'm proud we made the ship more than exemplary.
It's been Escorts all the way since Utopia and I know the layout of each system like the back of my hand, but the crew I have is all new to me.
Here I feel lucky to get a deputy such as Lt. Essex. His professionalism and dedication on one hand and easygoing manner on the other makes work flow easily.
I think I should work on my familiarity with him and start calling him Nox.
Last day on the surface brought us within an inch of our lives. Some quick thinking and the involvement of one Cardassian kept everyone intact. I still have misgivings of the authenticity of Mosat's claims to be working against the True Way saboteurs, but being in the right time and in the right place. Too much of a coincidence.
But we must move on and look to the future while being always on the guard.
