This ship is continuing to amaze me in both good and bad ways. It purrs like a snowcat asleep in hibernation, and yet when I sit and look more closely, it is held together by the barest of figurative threads.
The components of Dallas's upgrade are not exactly substandard - they're designed well and do their jobs, but I worry about their robustness. During our shield modifications today, we discovered this about the ship's power relays: Aluminium-Duranium alloy components that I fear would break if I breathed on them too harshly. Rated for around 30MJ or so - if we needed to start drawing serious amounts of power in a hurry, they would collapse under the strain, and I do not want to have one fail when a member of the crew is nearby. Lt. Qilajj, myself and Lt. Miller will need to replace them before they are severely tested. We had a Cadet grace us with her presence today - Cadet Talan - sent from the transporter room to keep an eye on our modifications. She's going to do well for herself.
My English immersion is going very well. I'm only getting stuck now mostly on names of things - Puzzle and Paranoid are two that I have re-learned today, and Aesthetic is another new one. I'll be sure to drop these into conversation at some time.
