It's been too long sitting tied to the station and doing maintenance.
It did gave us plenty of time to calibrate all the newly installed and hastily configured ship's systems and start feeling at home between the consoles and Jefferies tubes. But we are explorers, not technicians. We need to be out there in the dark between the stars.
One more thing I consider a success, is the new addition to our slowly growing crew. It's been a while since I've placed a request with starfleet engineering for an experienced damage control specialist and waiting eventually paid off.
Although starfleet considers these days any possible transfer as a poorly adjusted crewman, I find chief Valearea to be a sharp engineer and quite a pleasant person. He and Nox hit it off right away, so I take it as a good sign.
And of course, his expertise will be invaluable.
Note to self - Mr. Chico is not a legitimate combination.
